Drop-in Centre

Daily, the Centre offers a refuge for women and children in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver.  We provide basic-needs, as well as counselling, advocacy, social, educational and referral services:

  • breakfast and lunch program
  • crisis counseling and advocacy
  • first aid
  • showers
  • toilets
  • clothing
  • telephone and computer access
  • secure mailing addresses
  • storage of personal documents
  • message board
  • resource centre
  • social space for women to build community

DEWC also provides dinner for women who attend our evening groups (including healing circle, battered women support services, taiko drumming, Power 2 Women,  self defense, yoga, elders council) held most nights of the week from 5pm to 8pm.

We open our doors seven days a week, 353 days a year. We close once a month for all-day staff meetings and we are open on all statutory holidays including Christmas Day and New Years Day.
